Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are in legal trouble. The duo was last seen in Atlee's blockbuster film Jawan. Recently, a lawyer from Bharatpur in Rajasthan has filed an FIR against Bollywood actors, accusing them of promoting a car that allegedly has serious manufacturing defects. The complaint was registered at the Mathura Gate police station and names both actors, who had endorsed the brand in its advertisements.
Fir lodged against SRK and Deepika Padukone
According to IANS report, the complainant, advocate Kirti Singh, stated that he purchased the car in 2022 for Rs 23.97 lakh, after paying an advance of Rs 51,000 and securing a loan of over Rs 10 lakh. Singh reportedly claimed he was influenced by the celebrity endorsements and dealership assurances that the vehicle would be completely
"trouble-free."
However, within a few months of use, Kirti Singh said the car began showing multiple technical problems. According to him, the vehicle often fails to pick up speed while overtaking, even though the RPM increases, and the odometer regularly displays malfunction warnings.
He further alleged that the car vibrates and makes strange noises at high speeds, posing a major safety risk. “There were instances where accidents were narrowly avoided,” Singh claimed, adding that the issue persists despite repeated efforts to resolve it.
When he approached the dealership, Singh said he was informed that the car had a manufacturing defect that could not be corrected. Feeling aggrieved, he decided to take legal action not only against the company but also the brand ambassadors, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, alleging that they misled consumers by endorsing a faulty product.
Kirti Singh stated that the actors' involvement in promotional material played a key role in his decision to purchase the vehicle. He believes they should also be held accountable under consumer protection laws for their role in influencing buyer decisions.
Police officials have confirmed that the FIR has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway. Further action will depend on the outcome of the inquiry.
