Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that within hours of the ceasefire agreement by India and Pakistan on May 10 evening, Pakistan repeatedly violated truce by engaging in military action. In an urgent press briefing at 11 pm, he said that the Indian Army is retaliating to the border intrusion.
Misri further said that the intrusion is “extremely condemnable” and held Pakistan responsible for it. The Foreign Secretary also asked Pakistan to immediately stop the intrusion.
“For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived early in the evening between the Director Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of understanding arrived at earlier today," he added.
He further said, "The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate responses to these violations, and we take very very serious notice of these violations."
"We call Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The armed forces are maintaining a strong vision on the situation and they have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations along the international border as well as the line of control,” he said.

Hours ago, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri informing about the ceasefire agreement said addressing a press conference, "Pakistan's DGMO called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, in the air & sea with effect from 1700 hours IST. Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. They will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours."
