Several development projects and foundation-laying ceremonies were inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Dombivli on Sunday. The Waste Management Department of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has appointed organizations such as Sumit Elkoplast, known for their experience in implementing the Garbage-Free City initiative. These organizations will oversee waste collection and transportation planning.
KDMC has decided to adopt the “Chennai Pattern,” making this the first such initiative in Maharashtra and the second in the country after Chennai. Chennai’s garbage-free city initiative has been consistently successful, earning national recognition for its cleanliness.
A solid waste management system that includes garbage collection and transportation was also inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Shinde. A total of 350 vehicles will be deployed for waste collection and segregation. Additionally, 1,200 personnel have been engaged to carry out city cleaning in accordance with the Chennai Pattern.
