Coronation Street's Carl is hiding something truly dark with residents at risk

Send Push

Carl Webster has a lot of explaining to do on Coronation Street, but for now his sinister secrets remain under wraps to most residents.

If it's not bad enough that he's sleeping with his brother's wife, Abi Franklin, and had been using Kevin Webster's garage to run a dodgy scheme, another sick secret was revealed on Monday. Fans know that Carl has lured teens Brody and Dylan into helping him steal cars in his latest scam, while he's still in cahoots with criminal Fiona.

But with Dylan questioned by police over a hit and run that left Tyrone Dobbs seriously injured, more became clear. Carl confronted Brody and Dylan about using one of their cars, and them possibly being the ones that hurt Tyrone.

It was revealed Brody and Dylan were innocent though, as it emerged Brody had suffered a seizure. Dylan and Brody were at the hospital when the crash happened, ruling them out.

With CCTV footage backing this claim, Dylan was released by the police and fans learned neither teen were to blame. So who was driving the car that hit Tyrone, and who left him to die?

Well, it turns out it was someone close to home, and this person is hiding something truly dark. Carl himself was outed as the sickening person who caused the crash in a dark flashback clip on Monday. While he sat there supporting Tyrone, he lied to his face.

Carl was confirmed as the person driving, with a scene showing him setting fire to the car. He was the one covering up the crime, or trying to, because he was covering his own tracks.

He hit Tyrone and left him for dead, causing serious injuries. He has no shame it seems, faking support for the character and pretending not to know a thing, even leaving Brody and Dylan at risk by making it seem as though they could have been to blame.

Would he have let Dylan go down for the crime? Now knowing Carl will ruthlessly do anything and say anything to get his way but also cover his tracks, surely this means he could target anyone on the cobbles with no remorse.

This is soap land though, so will Carl's dark secret come to light and might he be exposed? Or could his desperation to hide what he's done, and the rest with other things perhaps not yet shared, see him leave others in danger or at risk?
