New GST Rates: Now '0' tax on these 35 items, finally the common man got a Diwali gift

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has taken a big decision in the GST Council meeting. While changing the new GST rate, the slabs of 12% and 28% have been abolished. Now there will be only slabs of 5% and 18%. GST has been made zero on many essential items, health services and food products. There are things like paneer roti, UHT milk and lifesaving medicines.

Finally the day has come for which people were eagerly waiting since 15th August. The recent meeting of the GST Council has brought a big relief to the people and traders of the country. A big change has been made in the GST rates under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Now the GST slab in the country will be only 5% and 18% (New GST Rate). At the same time, the existing rates of 12% and 28% have been abolished. These changes will come into effect from 22 September 2025 and are being described as a Diwali gift.

The GST Council has given zero GST tax on many daily essential items, health services and food products. So let's know which are those items on which the tax has been reduced to zero. That is, such items on which you will not have to pay any tax.

Which items will be taxed '0' (0% GST Items) Food and dairy products

Chhena or Paneer (pre-packaged and labelled), UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) milk, Pizza Bread, Khakhra, Chapati or Roti, Paratha, Parotta and other Indian breads (by any name) earlier had 5% GST, now 0%.

Life-saving drugs

These medicines earlier attracted 12% GST , which has now been reduced to zero. These include Agalsidase Beta, Imiglucerase, Eptacog alfa activated recombinant coagulation factor VIIa, Onasemnogene abeparvovec, Asciminib, Mepolizumab, Pegylated Liposomal Irinotecan, Daratumumab (including subcutaneous), Teclistamab, Amivantamab, Alectinib, Risdiplam, Obinutuzumab, Polatuzumab vedotin, Entrectinib, Atezolizumab, Spesolimab, Velaglucerase Alpha, Agalsidase Alfa, Rurioctocog Alpha Pegol, Idursulphatase, Alglucosidase Alfa, Laronidase, Olipudase Alfa, Tepotinib, etc. These medicines are mainly used in the treatment of cancer, rare diseases and severe chronic diseases.
