So far 1400 people have died in the earthquake that occurred two days ago.
Earlier, the death toll in the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Sunday night has crossed 1400 and about 3,000 people have been injured. Relief teams are still trying to rescue people trapped under the debris. This earthquake occurred in a mountainous region, due to which houses in many villages collapsed completely and people remained buried under the debris for hours.
Why are there frequent earthquakes in Afghanistan?
Its geographical location is the most responsible for frequent earthquakes in Afghanistan. Actually, Afghanistan is located at the place where two active plates - Indian plate and Eurasian plate meet. Both these plates collide with each other a lot, due to which earthquakes keep occurring in the region. Earthquakes of magnitude 4 hit Nepal twice. On the other hand, low intensity earthquakes hit Nepal twice on Tuesday. This created panic in the related areas. It is a matter of relief that no damage has been reported due to these tremors. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, the intensity of the earthquake in Gorkha district at 6.15 am was 4. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Hanspur of Gorkha, 150 km west of Kathmandu. Another earthquake of magnitude 4.1 hit at 3.15 pm. Its epicenter was in Lapilang of Dolakha district. Dolakha is located 180 km east of Kathmandu.
