M1 traffic LIVE: Chaos on busy UK motorway as police incident shuts road

Drivers are facing travel chaos on the after it was closed in both directions due to a police incident in Bedfordshire. Emergency services have raced to the scene this evening between junctions 12 (near Flitwick) and 13 (near Milton Keynes).

A diversion route is now in place. A post on the website reads: "The M1 in Bedfordshire is closed in both directions between J12 near Flitwick and J13 near Milton Keynes due to a Police led Incident."

It is not yet known whether there have been any injuries as a result of this incident. The has contacted the emergency services for further information.
