Newcastle United have £35m bid 'rejected' amid Alexander Isak Liverpool transfer links

Newcastle United have reportedly had a bid turned down for Brentford star Yoane Wissa after weeks of speculation. Mutiple reports have claimed that the Magpies have tabled an offer of £35m plus add-ons for the forward on Wednesday.

However, Brentford have rejected the proposal as it does not meet their valuation. This update comes after Wissa himself added a fresh twist to the transfer saga by removed all ties with the Bees from his Instagram account.

Newcastle have a long-standing interest in signing the 28-year-old, who netted a career-best 20 goals in 39 appearances last season. Wissa is reported to be eager to make the move to St James' Park and did not feature in the Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

However, if Newcastle were to secure Wissa, it could significantly impact Liverpool's chances of signing Alexander Isak, reports theLiverpool Echo. The Reds are continuing to be linked with signing the Sweden international having seen a £110million bid rejected earlier in the window.

Isak was not part of the Newcastle squad which featured in the goalless draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League opener on Saturday. Isak was named in the PFA Team of the Year on Tuesday but was not present for the award gala on Tuesday night.

Shortly after his inclusion, Isak took to social media to make a statement about his future.

"I'm proud to be recognised by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024/25," Isak wrote in a post on Instagram. "First and foremost I want to thank all my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way. I'm not at the ceremony tonight.

"With everything going on, it didn't feel right to be there. I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken.

"That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made - and the club has known my position for a long time.

"To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself. Alexander Isak."

Newcastle responded by releasing a statement of their own just a few hours after Isak. The Magpies stated their determination to keep Isak at St James' Park despite the ongoing speculation.
