has debunked a claim once made by during her latest royal appearance at a Buckingham Palace garden party. The Princess of Wales, 43, with her husband Prince William and other royals by her side to meet people from all across the UK.
While the princess caught the attention of royal fans , she also warmed the hearts of many by hugging members of the public. As sweet as this gesture was, it also debunked claims made by Meghan Markle in 2022 that suggested Kate, and her husband, were not fans of hugging.
Speaking in the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex spoke about the moment she first met the couple together, and made the suggestion that William, 42, and Kate,
She said: "When Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her (Kate) for the first time I remember, I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot.
"Like, I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger. I didn't realize that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.
"I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside."
However, Kate certainly didn't seem to find hugging "jarring" yesterday at the garden party, instead proving that quite the opposite was true.

Like on most royal engagements she does, the princess could be seen putting people at ease, sharing laughs and giving hugs - something Kate has This was praised by royal fans online, with one even dubbing Kate "the Princess of hugs" after a picture of Kate hugging Holocaust survivor Steven Frank at the garden party circulated online yesterday.
One fan wrote on X: "She is a hugger."
Another said: "And who said the royals didn't hug! This is pure joy at seeing someone..not something staged for the cameras."
Someone else wrote: "How lovely to see this . He must be so happy to have his big hug from Catherine."
This is not the first time the princess has been seen hugging the public, with Kate often on royal engagements over the years.
