Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is set to face major embarrassment this week as a ban gets lifted by Parliament. The 65-year-old was stripped of his royal titles, including his princely title, and will soon leave the 30-room Royal Lodge, which has been his home since 2003.
When Parliament returns from a brief recess on Tuesday, Liberal Democrat MPs will press the Government on Andrew's Royal Lodge arrangements. As reported by The Times, this will include any advice being provided by ministers on the size of his payout for vacating the property.
By convention, MPs are not allowed to criticise royals in the Commons. However, with recent news of the stripping of his title, Andrew is now a commoner. According to parliamentary officials, he has now lost any immunity from receiving scrutiny.
