Celebrity chef Simon Rimmer didn't take Roman Kemp's critique of his Sunday Brunch dish lying down, as he confronted the presenter about his recent comments.
The Celebrity Goggleboxstar had joined Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy on Channel 4's beloved Sunday morning programme, sampling an array of dishes.
Yet after the show, Roman confessed to his You About? podcast co-host Tom Grennan that there was one particular dish he regretted tasting.
On a recent episode of the podcast, Roman admitted he found it difficult to stomach the chef's pie, recounting: "It was 8 a.m. and I'm trying to stomach this fish pie and they came over and they said, 'What do you think?' I hate this. I said, 'I didn't like it.'"
However, in a twist during a later podcast episode, Roman disclosed that Simon had reached out following his harsh assessment of the fish pie: "We were talking about Sunday Brunch and how it is an early show to go on, and then you get a fish pie come out and you're like, 'Oh no.' Simon then messaged me on Instagram going 'Disappointing fish pie?' and I'm like 'ohh no, I don't need another one.'"
Roman continued, revealing his response to Simon's message: "I messaged him back and said, 'I'm not really sure-did I really say it was bad?' And then everyone told me, 'Yeah, you did,' and I was like, 'I didn't mean that.'"
Simon, who is self-taught in cooking, has opened two of his own restaurants. However, he is perhaps best recognised for his television appearances on programmes such as This Morning, The One Show, The Gadget Show, and Pointless Celebrities.
Sunday Brunch has become a mainstay of morning television since Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer teamed up to present the show in 2012.
The programme broadcasts live on Channel 4 every week for three hours, featuring celebrities partaking in a blend of cooking, conversation, and live music.
The show also invites celebrities to cook their own quick and easy dishes suitable for home preparation. Later in the programme, food experts share their insights on the latest culinary trends.
This Sunday's episode will see Tim and Simon joined in the studio by Conan Gray, Adam Kay, Laura Checkley, Sam Palladio, and Aggy K. Adams. Additionally, there will be a musical performance from Amy Macdonald.
Sunday Brunch is scheduled to air later this morning (July 13) at 10 a.m. on Channel 4.
