The pretty little seaside village given score of 84.53 - one of UK's best places to move

The small village of Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway, has been ranked as one of the best to move to in the UK. With fresh ocean air and picturesque landscapes, Brits can relocate to the stunning town while bagging some of the most affordable houses among the locations ranked in this top 10. Research from , revealed by the , examined house prices, salaries, climate conditions, connectivity and amenities to determine the ideal spot to move to.

Portpatrick is one of Scotland's most charming and beautiful villages with an array of coastal walks, local shops and friendly residents. Aside from the impressive seaviews, the town has a vast selection of gardens and historic buildings to visit, including Logan Botanic Garden and the Dunskey castle. Therefore it's no surprise the Scottish village scored an incredible 84.53 out of 100.

Its top offering is its affordable housing, with the average price of a home standing at just £142,305. This compares to other seaside towns on the list with average prices of over £300,000.

Portpatrick sees an average of 1,564.49 hours of sunlight annually, making for a high level of pleasant weather, despite the average yearly rainfall standing at 11000.88m. However, to make up for the wetter conditions, the village has one of the highest numbers for restaurants per resident. For each 1,000, there are 18 different eateries available meaning reservations for dinner are far easier.

The average annual salary for residents in Portpatrick stands at £24,458, which is significantly lower than the UK's average of £37,430. However, this is reflected in the low house prices.
