Majorca has for long been a popular holiday destination. But with more tourists coming in every day, it has been increasingly difficult to find an authentic beach where you meet more locals than tourists and don't feel the crowds. One such beach is 1.4 miles long Es Carbó. It is a beautiful, truly natural beach with sand and water as far as the eye can see.

The easiest way to get to Es Carbó is along the coast from Colonia Sant Jordi. With a few kilometres to cover, you can expect to spend 30-35 minutes getting there. Beware that you can't expect the life of popular tourist beaches, as it is a truly secluded gem, with the nearest restaurant around 1.5km away. As one visitor on Tripadvisor put it: "Spectacular sea, Caribbean beach with gentle vegetation that reaches the soft white sand dunes. Pristine environment away from the chaos."

Behind the beach, you'll find stunning sand dunes dotted with a variety of plants, shrubs, and trees. On the beach itself, seaweed is often present, as it is not removed at Es Carbó.

Another visitor added: "We walked round the coast from the port to this beach. It is quite a trek so make sure you take sun block and water. There are no amenities on the beach but it is clean, has lovely white sands that stretch for miles. The sea is calm but a little bit chilly early in the season but you do get used to it quite quickly."

The nearest town Colònia de Sant Jordi is located on the southeastern tip of Majorca with a relaxed atmosphere. Once a small fishing village, it has grown into a popular destination while retaining its authentic Majorcan charm. Visitors can explore the historic salt flats of Ses Salines, where traditional salt harvesting methods are still practiced.

From the town, it's also easy to take a boat tour to the nearby Cabrera Archipelago, a protected national park with crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life. For a different kind of adventure, the Botanicactus, Europe's largest botanical garden, is just a short drive away, featuring an impressive collection of plants and the Balearic Islands' largest navigable lake.
