Bhopal: A 36-year-old biker was run over by a speeding truck as he crossed the Gyarah Meel Flyover on Hoshangabad Road in Misrod locality on Thursday night and fled the spot. The biker's head was crushed under the wheel of the truck, and he died on the spot. Preliminary police investigations revealed that the man lost control and rammed into the road divider. As he fell on the road, he was run over by the speeding truck coming from behind. Misrod police registered a case and were searching for the unidentified truck driver with the help of CCTV cameras in the area.
SHO Misrod Manish Raj Bhadouria said that the deceased, Avinash Thakur, 36, a resident of Sourabh Colony on 80-Feet Road in Ashoka Garden, took contracts for centring work. His wife hails from Noorganj in Raisen district. Avinash and his wife were staying at his in-laws' house.
SHO Bhadouria said that on Thursday night, Avinash was going to Noorganj to his in-laws' home by bike. When he crossed the Gyarah Meel Flyover around 8.30 pm and reached in front of Milan restaurant, he somehow lost control and fell on the road after hitting the road divider. A speeding trailer truck moving behind his bike ran over him and fled the spot. Avinash's head was crushed under the truck wheels, and he died on the spot. Acting on information, Misrod police reached the spot and registered a case. A search was underway to nab the errant unidentified truck driver. Further investigations are ongoing.
