Ajmer: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has issued a stern warning to thousands of ineligible candidates who have applied for deputy commandant positions in the home department.
The commission has given these applicants until May 9 to withdraw their applications or face legal action under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The recruitment drive, which was advertised on March 18, is specifically for ex-servicemen, particularly retired army officers at the rank of Captain or former officers who served under emergency or short service commissions. However, of the 10,300 applications received for just four posts, only 320 candidates met the eligibility criteria, as per the RPSC.
RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta expressed concern over the overwhelming number of ineligible applications. "Despite clearly stating the eligibility criteria, thousands of unqualified candidates submitted applications. We have now provided a withdrawal window until May 9 for voluntary withdrawal," Mehta said Saturday.
The commission has also mandated that eligible candidates must upload valid service certificates by the same deadline to prove their eligibility. Failure to comply with these instructions could result in disqualification or legal consequences.
The application period for these positions ran from March 24 to April 24, and the posts are exclusively reserved for ex-army personnel. The RPSC has emphasised that no deviation from the specified eligibility criteria will be tolerated.
Separate notice: Final call for agriculture officer candidates
In another development, the RPSC has issued a final notice to 13 candidates who cleared the Assistant Agriculture Officer-2021 examination but failed to attend document verification from April 22 to 24. These candidates must now appear on May 3 at the RPSC office in Ajmer for the final opportunity to complete the verification process.
The recruitment process for the agriculture posts began in Nov 2021, and the provisional list of selected candidates was released on March 21 this year.
Candidates failing to appear for verification will be removed from the selection list, Mehta said.
