Gorakhpur: Bodies of a young couple were found in a field near Chiutha bridge under Gorakhpur's Chiluaatal police limits on Thursday morning. The 23-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were found lying 100m apart. The girl's face was masked, and nearby lay a bottle of poison, her handbag and a stole.
A scooter was found parked along the roadside. The couple had been missing for two days before villagers spotted their bodies and informed authorities. Preliminary investigations revealed no signs of external injuries, suggesting a suicide pact.
SP North Jitendra Kumar Srivastav stated, "Both bodies have been sent for postmortem and their families have been informed. As per the scooter's registration number, it has been traced to Manish Girdharilal Sharma, resident of Ramnagar Colony in Ayodhya."
The man, Vishwanath, was employed at a hospital in Gurgaon and hailed from Chhote Bajha village , while Neetu, hailed from Kunjalgarh, 2 kms away. Their relationship, reportedly, began in high school and spanned six years.
Despite their long-standing bond, caste differences led to resistance from both families. Neetu married another man but later separated from her husband. Villagers claim her family planned to remarry her, but Vishwanath's family was opposed to the match.
