NEW DELHI Former England captain Andrew Flintoff has revealed that he felt it would have been "much easier" if he had died in the near-fatal car crash he endured while filming Top Gear in 2022. During the terrifying incident, he believed his "face had come off," suffering serious injuries, including broken ribs.
The 47-year-old speaks candidly about the traumatic experience in Flintoff, an upcoming Disney documentary set to premiere on Friday.

Flintoff, who played a vital role in England’s 2005 Ashes win, admitted he feared the crash had left him beyond repair.
"After the accident, I didn't think I had it in me to get through. This sounds awful, part of me wishes I'd been killed. Part of me thinks, I wish I'd died," he said.
"I didn't want to kill myself. I wouldn't mistake the two things. I was not wishing, I was just thinking, 'this would have been so much easier'."
The crash happened while Flintoff was driving a Morgan Super 3, a three-wheeled sports car capable of reaching speeds of up to 130 mph (209 km/h). The vehicle flipped over, and Flintoff, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, sustained multiple injuries.
Flintoff retired from cricket in 2010 at the age of 31, having represented England in 79 Test matches between 1998 and 2009.
