Man tries Tamil movie Dragon-like trick to land a job at Infosys, gets caught in 15 days

A software engineer from Telangana was caught using an imposter for landing a job at Infosys . The fraud, similar to a Tamil movie named Dragon , was caught 15 days after the engineer in his 20s joined the company. The company eventually terminated his candidature and has filed a complaint with the Adugodi police against the applicant for cheating and impersonation. The Adugodi police have registered a case under the IT Act and sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

"Prashanth is from Telangana. After he was sacked from work, he went to Hyderabad. However, he insists that he be paid for his 15 days of work. We're trying to nab him," a senior police officer told TOI.

Software engineer hired imposter for Infosys interview

Filed by Kishore, accounts manager of Sampradaa Software Technologies that offers recruitment solutions for Infosys, the complaint says the accused — Rapa Sai Prashanth got — his friend to impersonate him in a virtual interview with the company.

Prashanth had applied for the job through a job portal and submitted his resume to Sampradaa Software Technologies. The recruiting agency verified his details and forwarded to Infosys. After conducting a virtual interview, the IT company offered him an offer letter on January 20, 2025.

However, staff at Infosys soon noticed inconsistencies. Although Prashanth had appeared confident and well-spoken during the interview, his communication skills in the office raised suspicion. On cross-checking interview screenshots with Prashanth’s photograph, it became evident that he had used an imposter to attend the interview.
